hard rock & cheesy tunes

And the Eurovision was a blast, surprising us at the same time.
Everyone knows the contest is not about good vocals but camp songs, catchy chorus, kitsch performances and over the top outfits. And should I say that this year we got all that and much more!!

What we got:
  • a group of Lithuanian middle-aged guys singing 'We are the winners of Eurovison. Vote for the winners!';
  • Kate Ryan (Belgium), being one of the favourites for the title, not going through to the final;
  • Sakis (one of the hosts) being 'harrassed' by the Dutch spokesperson (a fat bald guy), who asked for his mobile number and said the hosts looked like Will & Grace (priceless!!!) - they actually did looked like them!;
  • Sibel Tüzün, representing Turkey, got a place in the final - just because she had the hottest back-up dancers;
  • the finnish hard rock metal band going through to the final AND actually WINNING the festival;
  • Dima Bilan being second, just because he's hot;
  • Portugal being 5th, from the bottom up - in a total of 38!!;
  • and my favourite: Iceland's entry - a fabulous, tongue-in-cheek show by Silvia Night - gay as it can get, with amazingly witty lyrics that just show how shallow the contest is (Congratulations I have arrived!). She has a new fan right here!

But that's what we love, isn't it? There's more next year in Helsinki ;)
