I am going to Bloc Party's concert tonight. On my own.
Is that too sad?

UPDATE!!:

It was an amazing concert!
I got a better place than last time (the first floor, where I could see the whole stage from above), and they really connected with the audience this time.

Yeah, their songs might seem alike one another, but they strike a chord and boy do they sound great live! It might not be Coldplay/U2 stadium rock, but it is still a crowd pleaser without losing their uniqueness at the same time.

And Kele was charming as always, and super cute with his schoolboy shorts and trainers.

The most WTF?! moment of the night: two eleven year-olds singing along every single song! With their parents next to them enjoying the concert as much as them! :)

Roskilde Festival 2008

Antoher year, another Roskilde Festival. And of course I couldn't miss it this year, now that I've become a RF-addict.

The line-up is far from stellar, but it has great names and I really look forward to it!

Roskilde Festival '07

After waiting 3 excruciating hours to exchange my ticket for a wristband on sunday morning, getting a good place for the camp, and setting the tents up, I came back to Cph on sunday afternoon. I'll come back to Roskilde this afternoon, and although the weather isn't the best, I can't wait for it and I'm ready!

I bought galoches, an umbrella and my winter coat will keep me good company.
It will be hard to attend some concerts under heavy rain, but here is my programme:

BLOC PARTY!!!

The Bloc Party concert was sold out for a long time, making my chances of getting to see them live this year almost zero.

I had accepted the fact that it wasn't a lucky week for me when Peter at last.fm said he had a spare ticket because his brother cancelled on him. I was over-excited! One day before the concert, I get my chance! :D
It was also good news for Daniel who was somewhat worried he would have to go alone to the concert. :)

The concert was awesome. They brought a great lights-show, along with an amazing stage performance. Kele was always smiling and singing with passion (even after some childish guy in the audience threw a bottle at him), and the song line-up was great (I just wished they played Kreuzberg).
Although sometimes his voice didn't seem quite up there, they managed to make the time fly by and made us salivate for more...
A lot of teenagers in the audience though... mosh pits and crowd-surfing don't really do it for me.

Bloc Party - I Still Remember

my second Roskilde Festival

I bought today my ticket for the best festival in the world - Roskilde Festival!!! yay!!
It was fucking expensive, but totally worth it!! I was there last year but working, therefore I coulnd't attend some concerts. This year I decided I would pay just because I want to be free and enjoy the whole festival.

Names confirmed so far I want to see: The Killers, Björk, Muse, Mika, Arcade Fire, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx, moi Caprice
some other I want to check out: Mando Diao, Oh No Ono, Camera Obscura, Cansei de Ser Sexy, Against Me!
and some others I'm not really into: Red Hot Chilli Peppers, My Chemical Romance, Beastie Boys
and still more 100 bands to be announced... WOOHOO!!!

I got one ticket to The Arcade Fire concert in March that was sold out, but is now moving to a bigger venue!!!

imogen heap

I forgot to tell you how my last weekend was.
Well, there's not much to tell actually. The only thing worth mentioning is the concert I attended on friday.
I managed to convince Iason to get a ticket and come with me - concerts are always better when you can share them with somebody else -, so we went to see the fantastic Imogen Heap perform live.



All The OC fans know her. She's kind of a reference - 3 of her songs have played on the soundtrack (during crucial moments), and after listening to her 'Goodnight and Go' on the show for the first time, it quickly became one of my favourites.
Beside having an unique voice (she's barely open her mouth, we know it's Imogen), she has the presence and charisma any singer/songwriter/artist should have. The way she makes music while we're there - she's alone on the stage, playing with her electronical gadgets and making the music we know and love from the studio version sound better and deeper - it's simply amazing and refreshing.
And then she interacts with the audience - she talks a lot (even most of the times mumbling to herself), she laughs, she gets really surprised yet happy that the audience is singing along (she actually stopped mid-song to say 'Oh my God! It's so weird 'cause you actually know the words!!).

She's just lovely!

the lowdown

I don't even know where to begin...

Anyway, here it was my last week in Denmark which was also my week at Roskilde Festival.

The idea I had on my mind was nothing compared to the real thing: guys peeing against fences, girls squatting and peeing everywhere, people running around naked, thousands of tents so close to each other you could barely move in between them... after some days it looked like a refugee camp with garbage all around, people with teared clothes and dirty faces... and the smell... ohhh the smell!!!

The freezing nights and the hot mornings that made you sleep 3 hours in average every night, the drunk girls chatting you up, the queues for the portable toilets... this images and (particularly) smells will stay with me for a long while!!! :/

And then there was the music, although it was much more than about just music. It's like the only time of the year that Danes can free themselves, that they're repressed throughout the whole year and this is it. They turn into completely different people: they are dirty, filthy, irresponsible, destroy their tents and set them on fire on the last night. By sunday, the festival site looks like a battlefield.

And then there is the people - the people you go with, the people you meet there... Thank you Anita for all the good music you introduced me to, thank you Mike for the booze and the wild nights, thank you Alex for the most amazing days I've spent with someone for a while. I'm gonna cry now...

And all this had to happen days before my departure from Denmark!! I hate this bad timing I always seem to have!!!

Roskilde warm-up

Today I went to Roskilde for an instruction meeting. As you know I'll be working at the festival selling beers and other drinks, so today the workers met with the boss and received the instructions, the T-shirts we need to wear (which are really awesome!) and the bracelet that gives access to the festivalsite.
While in the train I could already sense the festival was beginning, with a completely crowded train. When I got to the Roskilde train station the feeling was even more intense with hundreds of people arriving each 10 minutes carrying tents, sleeping-bags, cranes of beer and stuffed backpacks.

The party mood was SO on!!! I can't hardly wait to join on tuesday evening!!!

It will be a blast!!! :D
