On Friday was the Santa Claus Parade here in Århus. Apparently it is a traditional parade which welcomes Santa and Christmas to the city. It is also when the Christmas Spirit is officially everywhere, if you know what I mean.
I was eagerly anticipating this event, but when I arrived to the harbour to see the beginning of the parade with a bunch of other Erasmus students, I was terribly disappointed, not to say frustrated. The Parade was just a couple of young guys dressed as Santa throwing candies at the kids and a group of girls dressed as Santa helpers dancing to the sound of the marching band which followed them... Honestly, I expected better... I could see by the people surrounding me that it was all about the kids fighting each other to get the candies. But even the freezing wind that cut our skins as razors didn't stop us and we moved to the main street to welcome the Santa once again and see the xmas lights turn on. Everyone awed when they turned them on. We had to wait inside a shop or we would have become ice blocks by the time the parade was there.
It was the coldest day in Århus so far, and one of the coldest in my life too.
