what is 'hygge'?

One of the terms more difficult to translate or explain to someone who hasn't lived in Denmark is 'hygge'. Danes use it a lot, saying it was 'hyggeligt', a person can be 'hyggelig' or you can also use it as verb and 'hygger' yourself.
Sounds like chinese!? Here's a really good definition I found.

Definition of "hygge",

A love of or need for hygge is an important part of the Danish psyche. Hygge is usually inadequately translated as cosiness. This is too simplistic: cosiness relates to physical surroundings – a jersey can be cosy, or a warm bed - whereas hygge has more to do with people’s behaviour towards each other. It is the art of creating intimacy: a sense of comradeship, conviviality, and contentment rolled into one.
Friends meeting in the street might say that it has been hyggeligt to see each other, and someone who is fun to be with can be called a hyggelig fyr, when he would hardly be described as a cosy fellow. The truly emotive depth of the word hyggelig is best captured by considering its opposite, uhyggeligt, which means anything from cheerless through sinister to downright shocking and grisly.
To have a hyggelig time is social nirvana in Denmark. Candlelight is used to encourage a hyggelig atmosphere. In fact, the Danes are mad about candles and use them everywhere, both in public, and at home. The dim lighting helps to soften the clean, uncluttered surfaces and uncompromising white walls that are typical features of Danish living rooms.
Achieving hygge generally involves being with friends and family, and eating and drinking.

freak like me? don't think so...

The net-dating world is full of surprises. And sometimes we find some pearls that we just need to share with everyone.
I'm sorry for those who can't understand danish, but I couldn't possibly translate everything, it's way much more fun as it is.

The first one was looking for someone who would move in and be the boss. Nothing sexual, he just wanted to follow strict rules at home!

And then this one who had lost his sugadaddy who gave him a fancy car and expensive clothes. Now he lost all that and he's looking for a new one. He's also looking for a younger lover he can use as he pleases on the side...

And I thought I as a freak...
PRICELESS!!

bad joke of the week

There's a new hire car out in Portugal. It's small,
and if you can't get all your kids inside you can
fit one in the boot. It's called the Renault McCann.

I'm a quirkyalone

Quirkyalone:
A quirkyalone is someone who prefers to wait for the right person to come along rather than dating indiscriminately. He or she has come to appreciate singledom as a natural state, a way to live a fulfilling life. Quirkyalones are not anti-love and certainly not anti-sex - merely 'anti-dull relationships'. They would rather spend time hanging out with friends, people with whom they have a real rapport, than endure a bad date.
For the quirkyalone, there is no patience for dating just for the sake of not being alone. We want a miracle. Out of millions, we have to find the one who will understand.
Better to be untethered and open to possibility: living for the exhilaration of meeting someone new, of not knowing what the night will bring. We quirkyalones seek momentous meetings.

the pick-up lines

Just found these pearls while surfing the web... I'm not sure they would work, but they're priceless!!

1. I wish you were a door so I could slam you all day long.
2. (Lick finger and wipe on his shirt)... Let's get you out of these wet clothes.
3. Nice ass... what time does it open?
4. Do you work for UPS? I thought I saw you checking out my package.
5. You've got 206 bones in your body, want one more?
6. Can I buy you a drink or do you just want the money?
7. I may not be the best-looking guy in here, but I'm the only one talking to you.
8. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that was a Braille name tag.
9. If it's true that we are what we eat, then I could be you by morning.
10. I wish you were a Pony Carousel outside Wal-Mart, so I could ride you all day long for a quarter.

the new internet world (with sound!)

Since the blooming of YouTube that I've been a flash video outcast - for some reason my laptop played every flash video without sound. And I've actually got used to it and learnt to accept my bad luck.

No more reason to worry, though, my friends!
Yesterday, B was trying to help me out with that problem, and we're not sure what we did, but today the flash videos have sound!!!

Goodbye silent era!! :)
